STADIUMS WILL BE READY

The Deputy sports Minister of Brazil has said that he is confident that stadiums will not only be ready for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but also for the 2013 FIFA Confederations cup as well. This will be holding the 2013 FIFA Confederations cup as a precursor to the 2014 FIFA World Cup. However, there has been a real lack of development in the infrastructure within the country, while the stadiums are also only now being completed. The Deputy sports Minister, though, expressed his confidence that the stadiums will be ready in time to host these events.

A total of six cities will be hosting the 2013 FIFA Confederations cup and most of the stadiums are being renovated or being built from scratch. The national teams of Spain, Japan, Italy, Mexico, Tahiti and Uruguay will be landing in Brazil for this competition. The host nation Brazil will also be part of this tournament. The confederations cup will be held from June 15 to June 30. Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador is causing the biggest worry because the 56,000 seater capacity stadium is yet to be completed with only a few months remaining for the competition.

“These are complex operations, but we’re more than confident — absolutely sure — they’ll be built in time. Soccer is the king sport in Brazil, and Brazil is a world power in soccer, but the team didn’t deliver at the decisive moment. It was a national trauma and we need to overcome it. We really do hope to win the World Cup. Only three people have ever silenced 200,000 people at Maracanã with a single gesture: Frank Sinatra, Pope John Paul II and I,” said the deputy sports Minister of Brazil, Fernandes. Fernandes expressed his disappointment of Brazil not being able to win the Olympic gold medal.

NOT FINISHED YET

The Brazilian sports Minister Aldo Rebelo has said that he does not expect the nation to be the finished article when it comes to the prospect of hosting the FIFA World Cup, reported the Chelsea news website.

However, he has expressed his confidence that the nation will be able to deal with the burden on the infrastructure due to the arrival of thousands of tourists. The FIFA World Cup is one of the most watched events across the world. It draws crowds of more than million to a nation, which in turn helps the local economy. Brazil knew that they would be hosting the 2014 World Cup almost a decade ago.

However, it is only now that the preparations for the World Cup have started in full swing. As a result, a number of the aspects of the World Cup that were initially promised would not be delivered according to the sports Minister. Aldo Rebelo was in London in order to watch the London Olympics 2012. Since the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, fans have been complaining about the lack of proper facilities in the subsequent world cup. The 2014 World Cup also looks set to follow the same suit. The transport infrastructure, though, will be developed tremendously according to the Minister.

“We are going to do everything to ensure that the people who are coming to the World Cup are going to have the guarantee of security, of comfort of mobility within those 12 host cities. Some of the infrastructure will not be completely ready because it is an ongoing process. We are continuing to build the country. I have already placed this issue, with the organisers, with the sponsors, so that a suitable solution can be found so that these people can indeed have access to the stadia,” said Aldo Rebelo during his visit to London.

BEST WORLD CUP EVER

The head of the Brazilian organisation that is overseeing the preparations for the 2014 FIFA World Cup has said that he is extremely confident that the World Cup will be a major success. He has also said that every single operation that is being undertaken right now is under the control. The Brazilian government has been criticised for not preparing for the World Cup at a much earlier stage considering that they knew that they would be hosting the World Cup almost a decade ago. Yet, many infrastructure projects are yet to be undertaken by the government. However, the head of the Brazilian organisation that oversees the development of the perception has said that they are taking every step possible in order to make the World Cup successful.

He has also assured the fans that the infrastructure will be ready within the start of the confederations cup next summer. He has said that there has been intense scrutiny on the infrastructure work that is being carried out in the country 24 hours a day. It is expected that the 2014 FIFA World Cup will cost Brazil approximately $ 14 billion in new infrastructure. This infrastructure is expected to comprise stadiums, airports, and various other public transport options.

“I am very optimistic, everything is under control and I am sure that we will organize a fantastic World Cup. We are monitoring the (infrastructure) works 24 hours a day and I can assure you that the stadiums will be ready on time. Currently, we have other priorities. We continue to monitor work on the stadiums, but the issue is no longer whether or not they will be completed as scheduled,” said Ricardo Trade, who is the executive director of the committee overseeing the development of nations throughout the country.

SCOTLAND HOPEFUL ON FLETCHER

Scotland are hoping that Manchester United midfielder and their captain Darren Fletcher will be able to return to the Scotland national team by the start of the FIFA World Cup 2014 qualifiers.

They will begin after the Euro 2012, which will be taking place in Ukraine and Poland. Even though there is quite a long time before the World Cup qualifiers actually begins, Scotland are certainly worried about the status of their star midfielder Darren Fletcher, who has been granted an extended and undefined break due to a rare illness.

Scotland begin their qualifying campaign for the FIFA World Cup 2014 in the September of 2012. It is still not clear whether Darren Fletcher will be able to return to the first-team action by then, although medical reports suggested that he could return after one year.

Scotland will be hoping to qualify for the biggest tournament in the world after they failed to do so for the previous 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, and won’t be part of the 2012 Euro Football betting because they lost out to France in the qualifiers.

Even though Darren Fletcher will certainly miss the friendly matches against Slovenia, there is every chance that he could return to the first qualifying match against Serbia, which is scheduled on September.

“He’s out for four months complete rest, and then we can reassess things. I’d be desperately hoping [to have him for the qualifiers]. He becomes such an important player for us, not just on the field, but as an example by the way he behaves himself on and off the park and his attitude,” Scotland manager Craig Levein was speaking to the media regarding the future of Darren Fletcher.

Fletcher is undoubtedly the star player at Scotland and his absence will seriously hurt their chances of making it into the prestigious tournament in South America. He is also sorely missed by his domestic club, and you can bet Manchester United are missing him right now, and hoping for a speedy comeback too.
