Al Ahly have booked their place at the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup tournament in Qatar next month after they saw off arch rivals Zamalek in the CAF Champions League final towards the end of last year. Al Ahly beat Zamalek 2-1 in the CAF Champions League final to clinch a spot at the tournament billed to hold from February 1 to February 11 in Doha, Qatar. Qatar is also the host for World Cup 2022 tournament. The 2020 FIFA Club World Cup tournament is seen as a medium to get Qatar ready for the aforementioned World Cup 2022 tournament.

The Red Devils as Al Ahly are fondly called were able to clinch a record ninth title with the slender win recorded at the end of the match between the two teams from Cairo.
